Hello
I'm Brooke.
A creator by heart, I studied fashion, ran my own custom bridal business, and worked full-time as a bridal seamstress for years. In 2018 when my second baby arrived, I put my sewing machine aside to stay home and focus on the kids.
That was a challenging season. I had no creative outlet other than making my husband rearrange the house every three months (yes, I did that …) on top of dealing with postpartum depression. I knew I needed to get back into my craft, but had no real interest in returning to sewing.
As time went on I tried different outlets, I kept moving furniture, and taking my frustrations out on my yard. It was in 2022, as I shared some of my fresh-cut flowers with friends and family, that it hit me: these flowers had grounded me in a way I never expected. They brought me so much joy and peace that I started my search and noticed the boom of flower farming.
That was it. I was hooked. Big Blooms came at a time I needed it most. I hope to share these blooms with my community — and that they do for someone else what they've done for me.
The farm
A backyard, a sod cutter, a max load of compost.
With my husband, a sod cutter, and a max load of compost, I took the backyard and turned it into a small urban flower field. Though it will be ever-changing, I started with a 40×50′ space growing a mix of flowers — annuals that bloom once and get replaced each year, perennials that come back each spring, and a few shrubs I cut from for greenery.
The first blooms exploded in the spring of 2023. Four seasons in, my rows have widened and my list of varieties has grown — but I've stayed small on purpose. We strive to harvest all stems here on the farm or from other local farms to fill your orders with the most fresh blooms.
